TECH

1. iOS
Pros: iTunes-streaming videos and apps for lesson
Closed operating system makes ease for maintenance in schools
Popularity of iPhones and iPods-connectivity across all items
         Cost- cheaper than Windows
Siri- voice commands (in newer iOS versions)
Cons: Books- iTunes Books not as popular as Kindle or Nook
Flash- problems with conversions and use of Flash player

Android
Pros: Books- Kindle and Nook are front runners in electronic books
Flash- easy conversion and use of Flash player
Cost- least expensive of the three
Software- reformatting of software makes software easier to use
Cons: "Open" operating system- slow system updates between modifications
Apps- restrictions on apps used in Kindle and Nook

Windows
Pros: History- long, strong position in computer software/Xbox leader in game systems
Flash- easy conversion and use of Flash player
Software- same software on laptops and desktops
Cons: Cost- most expensive of the three and most expensive to maintain
Store- Windows Store still in development and does not appear to haves a strong base.

2. I agree with the Principal that the smallest iPod/MP3 players should be discounted. In my opinion, the medium sized tablet is the best option. It is large enough to have a standard keyboard, yet small enough to be easily transported and is not bulky like the large sized tablet.

3. Analysis in #1

4. The cellular option is a choice of Internet connectivity. A cellular tablet requires cellular capability, antennae, and firmware necessary to negotiate and maintain connection to a nearby phone tower.  While it is an add-on to the wifi on tablets, it cannot be added to tablets that do not have the capacity for both built in. I don't think it is a viable option and does not affect the discussion. Having to be located near a phone tower limits the use of the tablet, and it also requires some kind of cellular contract with the service provider.

5. In conclusion, I believe that the iOS is the best tablet option. I believe that the pros outweigh the cons, and outshine the other tablet options. The biggest sales point to me is the connectivity between iPods, iPhones, and iPads. Being able to sync these together helps students have their materials wherever and whenever they are needed. Another big plus for the school is iTunes, which would allow both teachers and students the ability to easily stream videos and use apps for lessons.
